Washington Disarmament Conference (1922)
The Washington Disarmament Conference occurred from the November of 1921, to February 1922, in Washington, D.C. was held to create the Washington Naval Treaty. The outcome of the conference limited the construction of aircraft carriers, battleships, and battle cruisers The treaty was signed by Italy, France, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. This treaty was later modified during the 1930 conference in London and then later modified again in the 1936 conference, again, in London.
Geneva Disarmament Conference (1927)
The Geneva Disarmament Conference occurred in February 1927 in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss the naval arms limitation. The countries that had previously signed the Washington Treaty were invited, but only the United States of America, Britain, and Japan accepted the invitation, not France and Italy. The conference was a failure because the USA did not want Britain the have what she requested, 70 cruisers, a total of 560,000 tons of displacement, and Japan did not want to have a fleet less then 70% the size of the USA.
London Disarmament Conference (1930)
The London Disarmament conference was held in London on April 22, 1930, and resulted in the London Naval Treaty, which was signed by the Empire of Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Italy. This Treaty limited naval shipbuilding and regulated the standard displacements and gun calibers of submarines. This treaty resulted in Italy scrapping 130,000 tons of naval vessels, which was two battleships, twelve cruisers, 25 destroyers, and 12 submarines.
London Disarmament Conference (1936)
The London Disarmament Conference of 1936 was held in London, United Kingdom, from December 9th, 1935 to March 25th, 1936. The treaty that was signed there was called the Second London Naval Treaty and it was signed by France, the United Kingdom, and the United states of America. Japan, who had signed The First London Naval Treaty withdrew from the conference and Italy, because of the invasion of Abyssinia, declined to sign the treaty. It was effective up until September 1st, 1939.
